In this age of media conglomerates and search engine optimization, it can be hard to dig through for information from less well-placed sources. Million Short aims to fix that problem by removing a user-specified amount of top results from your searches in order to highlight sites you may not have seen before. For example, searching for “The Verge” brings up a lot of terms related to our site, but removing the most popular million results brought us to places like The Verge bar in London. On the other hand, while searching for “Beyonce” didn’t turn up many results unrelated to the singer, it highlighted several small fan sites at the expense of Wikipedia, MTV, and official pages.
